Ko Wai Tātou
Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board was established in 1926 to represent and serve the collective interests of Ngāti Tūwharetoa.
For 100 years, the Trust Board has been part of the ongoing journey of our iwi, a journey shaped by our tūpuna, carried by our whānau and grounded in our enduring relationship with our whenua, our wai and our taonga.
A Century Of Mahi
Has seen our people navigate significant change. Through it all, the things that make us Tūwharetoa have remained constant: our whakapapa, our connection to place, our responsibility to one another and our determination to shape our own future.
The Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board is one part of that wider whakapapa and collective story.
Our Role
Our role is to serve the interests and aspirations of Tūwharetoa, to support our whānau, hapū and marae, advocate for our iwi, uphold our responsibilities as kaitiaki, protect what is important to us and create opportunities that strengthen the generations to come.
Our Mahi
May take many forms, but its purpose is always connected to our people.
It starts with listening, to what our people need, what our whānau aspire to, the voices of our hapū and marae, and the lessons and responsibilities carried through our whakapapa.
From there, our responsibility is to turn that understanding into meaningful action.
That is what Mahi Rangatira ki te Iwi asks of us — to make it work for our people.
To ensure there is a clear connection between the aspirations of our people, the mahi we undertake and the outcomes we achieve.

Because our mahi is not about the Trust Board itself.
It is about Tūwharetoa.
It is about the strength of our people, the wellbeing of our whānau, the mana of our iwi and the future we are collectively responsible for shaping.
